The Streets of Rostov July 1942 - WWII Skirmish- Westbury Wargames and TM Terrain www.tmterrain.com
Notionally the game is set in Rostiv on the Don during the drive on the Caucasus by the German 17th Army in the July of 1942, but in reality it could be any one of a hundred streets in any one metropolis that was rolled over by the German juggernaut during the early war years.
The game can accommodate up to seven German players controlling sections from a platoon in Major Ortliebs's 1st Battalion of the 125th Infantry Division who have been given the objective of clearing out the Soviet defenders in this part of the city. The game will continue through the day on a rolling basis and players can enter or exit at any time; theie section will be taken over by another player or will remain inactive until another player comes along.
The rules are our own. The most important rule however is to HAVE FUN!
Fighting the FLABs - 6mm Science Fiction - Baccus 6mm www.baccus6mm.com
The first contact between Humans and Centaurs on the planet of
Pholus had proved bloody and costly as the Aliens completely destroyed the large
industrial complex based there.
The first military force of any size to appear on the scene was a reinforced
brigade from Consolidated Systems. With no idea what they were to face apart
from the fact that the new enemy were Four-Legged Alien Beings, the officers
and men of the 3rd Armoured were expecting anything to come at them.
Nothing could have prepared them for came to view in their HQ Battlefield Information
screens...
Fighting the FLABS is a participation game using the Command Horizon rules and
models. Players will be able to join the game at various points and as the life
expectancy of the Human units is not high, you won't have to commit to half
a day at the table to join in.

Wargods of Aegyptus - Stoke Wargames Group
WarGods is a fantasy game based on the mythologies of time gone by. Based on Ancient Egypt and their Gods and Ancient Greece and their Gods. There is much much more to the game -- like magic, scenarios, great background & stories.
Take a preprepared warband for a faction and see how the rules system which is unique to Wargods works.
Your warband is lead by your harbinger "servants to the gods" (Creating your harbinger is a creative and fun process!). Choosing whether you want to be infamous or famous -- You are not limited to only one of the races in your warband, as most of the different races can ally (and most races will ally with both famous and infamous warbands.)
The system plays as a "you choose, I choose" system. That is to say, it is not a "you go, I go" turn base like Warhammer fantasy Battle (where you can wait around forever for your opponent to finish his turn) but instead works on command counters issued at the beginning of the turn by your harbinger.
Command counters represent your harbinger shouting orders at
his or her troops. "Charge!" "Fire!" "Fall Back!"
(You get the picture). After seeing who gets "the edge i.e. the opportunity
to activate units" you take it in turns to reveal a command counter, however
you are not limited to revealing only your own counters, but can chose to reveal
your opponents instead, making WarGods a tactical game.
Each game lasts between 45-60 minutes.

Operation Goodwood was an attemp by the British, Canadian and Polish forces to breakout from around the strategic city of Caen. The attack on July 18th was to be a tightly focused punch of some 750 tanks to the east of Caen, from the base established by the 6th Airborne, over the Orne, across the cornfields, over two railway lines and up towards the well defended ridge at Bourguebus. Proceded by a massive artillery bombardment, three armoured divisions drove hard for the objective. Poorly supported by infantry the attack was delayed by well dug-in and reinforced German forces.
The Mongol invasion of Japan 1274 - Curteys Miniatures and 1st Corps www.curteysminiatures.co.uk
www.1stcorps.co.uk
By 1258 Kublai Khan grandson of Genghis Khan had conquered both China and the
Korean peninsula .He then turned towards Japan . After 5 years of demands for
tribute from Japan went unanswered the great Khan assembled a fleet of some
800 ships loaded with 30,000 Mongols, Chinese and Koreans.
The fleet captured several small islands before arriving at Hakata bay in Japan.
Upon arrival the Mongols achieved some success against the Samurai warriors
sent against them. Defeating their opponents and heading inland to raid the
surrounding countryside it looked like they were unbeatable. Things were looking
bad for the defenders when one night after the Mongols had retired to there
ships a terrible storm arose and destroyed the fleet. Barely half the fleet
survived and made the trip back to mainland Asia.
The game is laid out to represent several incidents during the first days of
the invasion, including the initial defence by the local Samurai, the raiding
parties of the Mongols and the old fortification said to have been used as a
final refuge.
The figures used in this game are produced by Curteys Miniatures and 1st Corps,
the rules are the popular Warhammer Ancient Battles rules published by Games
Workshop.
Breaking The Panzers -Rauray, Normandy 1st July 1944 - A group of friends from West Yorkshire
The Situation: Operation EPSOM has ended; the British are digging-in, preparing to defend the ground gained. Elements of the German I and II SS Panzer Korps have had to be committed to blunt the British thrust and counter attacking to stop further British advances. The 'Scottish Corridor' is vulnerable and ripe for destroying. German troops continue to arrive piecemeal in difficult circumstances and are preparing to take the high ground overlooking the 'corridor'.
The key British forces were 1st Tyneside Scottish, 11 Durham Light Infantry,
4th Lincolns, Kings Own Scottish Borderers and of course their supporting artillery.
The Germans have elements of the 9th SS Division Hohenstaufen and a Kampfgruppe, lead by Otto Weidinger, formed from 2 infantry battalions from the 2nd SS Panzer Division, Das Reich.
The British aim was to hold the ground gained.
The German aim was to advance on Cheux, taking the high ground, the Rauray spur, on the way and cutting the corridor. Kampfgruppe Weidinger supported Hohenstaufen's attack by advancing on Tessel-Bretteville and Rauray on the left and the 10th SS Panzer Division Frundsberg was further away on their right.
Operation Jupiter, Normandy 10th July 1944 - Burton Wargames Club
The fall of Caen was a great relief to all the Allied commanders, not least to General Montgomery. The capture of Caen, he stated, 'greatly simplified our problems on the eastern flank, as we have now eliminated the German salient west of the river and were well placed to continue operations by extending our bridgehead to the west of it'.
With Caen now in his hands, General Dempsey elected to tidy up his line west
of the city by finishing off the attack over the Odon at hill 112. This was
a renewal of the bloody battle at the end of June and this time the task was
entrusted to the 43rd Division. With the usual massive support from the air
and artillery, their attack - Operation Jupiter - went in at 0500hrs on July
10th, the day after Caen fell.
The task of the 43rd Division was to break out of the Odon bridgehead, which
now lay between Verson and Buron, take hill 112, and advance southeast to the
Orne. Major General G.I Thomas - known as 'Butcher' to his men - decided that
his infantry division, with tank support, should take Hill 112 and the village
of Maltot just to the east, while the 4th Armoured Brigade and the 46th Highland
Brigade, which were attached to the 43rd Division, would exploit forward to
the Orne at St. Andre.
Battle of Bothwell Bridge 22nd June 1679 - Border Reivers Wargames Society
The game was based on the Battle of Bothwell Bridge on 22nd June 1679 and was
the largest battle of the Covenanting Rebellions in the 1660' and 70's. This
is not to be confused with the Civil War or the Jacobite Rebellions and it's
origins lie in the refusal of the Government to allow the Covenanters to practice
their religion in church. As a result of this refusal they began to hold open
air Conventicles on areas outside of villages and towns and the Government forces
frequently tried to break these up, by force if necessary.
The battle came about following the murder of an Archbishop outside of St Andrews
in Fife by a group of Covenanters. The Covenanters were hunted after the murder
and went towards the East Kilbride area which was a strong Covenanting area.
The Government forces stepped up their patrols to find the murderers and near
Drumclog in June 1679 a troop of Dragoons led by Graham of Claverhouse (later
'Bonny Dundee' at Killiecrankie) came upon an open air Conventicle which they
tried to break up. The troop was attacked and had to flee from the area making
their way back to Glasgow to alert the Governor of Glasgow.
The Covenanters followed the troop and on the way massed up a large number of
their angry fellow Covenanters which then stormed Glasgow forcing the Government
troops out. The Covenanters then withdrew from Glasgow and made their way back
towards Hamilton where they stopped on the south banks of the Clyde near Hamilton
and began to grow in numbers reaching in some estimates, 7000 men.
The Government forces were led by James Scott, the Duke of Monmouth and formed
up to the north of the Clyde at Bothwell Bridge facing the Covenanters to the
south. This force consisted of the Scots Guards, Oglethorpes Dragoons, Fourth
troop of Life Guards, David Leslie's battery of artillery, a group of Atholl
Highlanders and a number of Militia Infantry and Dragoons.
The Covenanters consisted of a unit of musketeers, 3 troops of horse and an
artillery piece which defended the bridge. To the south were large units of
foot carrying mixed hand weapons and further troops of horse.
The battle started with an artillery duel across the bridge as well as exchanges
of musketry. This carried on until the Covenanters were forced away from the
bridge allowing the Government troops to cross and form up in line of battle
on the south side of the river facing the Covenanters.
The Government troops then attacked the Covenanters who after giving a good
account of themselves were driven away leaving behind 700 dead (Government account)
and 1200 prisoners. From these Covenanter prisoners most were pardoned after
making an oath of good behaviour, some were executed due to their major part
in the rebellion and 209 died in a shipwreck while they were being transported
to Barbados to be sold as slaves.
The figures and flags used in the game are from The Reiver Castings range.
The Battle of Lebertwolkwitz 14th October 1813 - L'Ordre Mixte Club
D Day 6th of June 1944 Bloody Omaha - 'Realistic Wargames Group' www.realisticwargames.co.uk
Historical Background
Objective: The only breaks in the 100-foot high cliffs running between UTAH and GOLD Beaches were at OMAHA Beach. The landings at OMAHA were therefore vital to connect the US troops at UTAH Beach with the British and Canadian beaches to the east.
6th of June 1944, elements from the untested U.S 29th Infantry Division and
the battle hardened U.S 1st Infantry head towards the beaches of Normandy to
a date with destiny. They have been told that the quality of the German costal
forces facing them on Hitlers vaunted Atlantic Wall are poor. Allied planners
were wrong this section of coast line ( allied code name for this landing area
was OMAHA ) was defended by the experienced veteran German 352nd
Infantry Division.
Very little went as planned at Omaha on D-Day. Difficulties in navigation caused
the majority of landing craft to miss their targets throughout the day and most
of the DD Sherman swimming tanks that had been expected to add fire support
had sunk on their way in . The defences were unexpectedly strong and inflicted
heavy casualties on US troops as they landed
..The out
come of the battle hung in the balance ?
This Demo game was played using the World War II rules STORMING THE REICH at the Derby World Championship show in October 2007

Historical time line
Landing craft are loaded 11 miles from beach, leading to problems with rough
seas. Ten landing craft sink.
05.35 27 DD (swimming) tanks sink on launching in rough seas.
05.55 The Allied naval barrage and bombing raids on the German defences
are ineffective.
06.35 The first units try to land, but are cut down in the surf by defenders'
fire. There is terrible carnage.
07.00 Chaotic situation on the beach, as troops are pinned down and take
cover behind mined beach defences. Engineers are unable to clear obstacles.
07.08 2nd Ranger Battalion Lands and assaults Pointe du Hoc, the site
of a battery of German long-range guns (to the west of the main landings on
Omaha Beach.
07.30 The second wave of troops adds to the confusion and over-crowding
on Omaha Beach.
07.40 5th Ranger Battalion lands on beach.
08.00 The attack up the cliffs begins, assisted by tanks and destroyers
firing from close inshore.
08.30 Rangers and 116th Infantry reach top of the cliffs at Les Moulins.
09.15 After scaling 80-100 foot cliffs at Pointe du Hoc, the US Rangers
find the battery empty, but discover the guns further inland and destroy them.
10.00 - 11.00 The advance on Vierville and St Laurent gradually begins.
The beach is very congested.
11.00 Vierville is captured.
12.00 German defences are penetrated in four places. US troops begin
to move inland, although the beach is still under heavy fire.
14.00 The first beach exit is cleared.
16.00 Tanks and vehicles begin to move off the beach.
20.00 St Laurent and Colleville are captured.
24.00 A tiny, precarious beachhead has been established. There are pockets
of US forces over an area approximately five miles wide by 1.5 miles deep.
OMAHA Beach was the worst of all the Allied beaches on D-Day. By midnight, 34,250
troops had been landed, with around 2,000 casualties. Three men won the Congressional
Medal of Honor
Small penetrations were eventually achieved by groups of survivors making improvised assaults, scaling the bluffs between the most heavily defended points. By the end of the day two small isolated footholds had been won and which, against weaker defences further inland, were subsequently exploited to achieve the original D-Day objectives over the following days.
This beach is now known as Bloody Omaha because of the 2,200 casualties suffered by the American troops who landed here on D-Day. High cliffs and strong German defences made this a formidable objective. Despite heavy losses, by the end of 6 June the US 1st and 29th Divisions, and the 2nd and 5th Ranger Battalions, had gained a foothold at Omaha.
