Armies & Army lists

People should enter as an individual not as teams and are asked to enter one of the following periods;

1)       From Biblical to Fall of Rome

2)       Dark age to Renaissance

Lists should have a 400pts limit and should be taken from either the Impetus main rule book, Impetus Extra(s) or from one of the beta lists on the Impetus website. The only exceptions to the normal restrictions are that special characters may not be used.

Army lists must be submitted to the period organiser no later than 12.00 noon on Sunday 26th September 2009. Please either send them by normal mail or by e-mail, either as an attachment or in the body of the e-mail. Players will be notified that their army list has been received. It is up to you to make sure that your list is in on time.

Players submitting a list as above in a clear and legible manner will receive a bonus 30 vps.

All armies should be fully painted and anyone not fielding a fully painted force will be deducted 30 vps.

On Saturday morning the event organiser will do a random draw with one player from each section being placed together to form a team of two. The idea being that, with Impetus still being a new system, it will be nice to get to know other players from different areas and being put into a team will hopefully help with this.

Sportsmanship

There will be no sportsmanship scoring for this event. However, if anyone feels there opponent was highly unsporting during their game they should make there feelings known to one of the umpires. Anyone brought to the attention of the umpires will then be watched more closely. Anyone being repeatedly brought to our attention may face disqualification.

Rules Queries

Hopefully, all games will be played out with the utmost fun, and run completely smoothly. If you do have any problem/rules queries then, first look in the relevant rule/army book and, if this does not satisfy you or you can’t find the answer, then please feel free to ask the event organiser or one of the umpires appointed on the day. The Umpire is free to interrupt any game to clarify or point out mistakes to players.

The Battlefield

We will supply enough terrain for all the tables for this weekend. However, if people wish to bring teamed terrain they should feel free to bring them along.

Game Play

Game one

Standard Pitched battle

Game Two

“A slant on pitched battle”

1 The attacker and defender are found as per the rule book;
2 The terrain is again set out as per the rule book the only difference is that there is always a village;
3 The village is placed in the centre of the board;
4 The defender then roles a D6 on a 1,2 the village moves 12U towards the attackers deployment zone (deployment zone B) on a role of a 3,4 it stays still and on a 5,6 it moves 12U towards the defenders deployment zone (deployment zone A);
5 Both camps are then placed as per the map;
6 Both Commanders then deploy as per the rule book but with the deployment zones as per the map.

Game 3

Flank March

This game is played out at a standard pitched battle with the following differences:

  • If the army has 3 commands or more, then one command can be sent on a flank march;

  • Commanders should write on their deployment map which side the command is marching to (if any). This command is not deployed with the army but placed to one side;

  • From turn 3, players should role on the following table to see if they arrive.

Role                        Result

1                              The command has become completely lost and takes no part in the battle.

2-4                           They are still trying to find the battle field, nothing happens this turn but add +1 to all further roles

5-6                           Hear they come, place the command anywhere along the side of the board within 30U of the centre line. All units count at being activated this turn.

Game 4

Standard Pitched battle

Game Scoring

We will be using the official Impetus competition scoring system which is as follows;

Winner (enemy's army has been routed) gets 30 Pts (Winner Bonus) + 100pts (100% of destroyed VDs) - percentage of lost VDs.

In case of “draw” (no routs) both players get 10 Pts (bonus) + percentage of destroyed VDs.

In case of defeat (rout) player gets as many points as the percentage of VD he has destroyed.

Units belonging to a routed Command are considered destroyed.

Examples
1) A (VDT=34) beats B (VDT=30) putting in rout, but with the loss of 9VD.
A gets 30 (bonus) + 100 (percentage of destroyed Units) minus 26 (9 is 26% of 34) = 104 pts
B gets 26 pts

2) A (VDT=34) beats B (VDT=30) putting in rout, but with the loss of 15VD.
A gets 30 (bonus) + 100 (destroyed %) - 44 (lost %) = 86 pts
B gets 44 pts

3) A (VDT=34) destroys 6 VD of B (VDT=30) and the latter destroys 13 VD of A. No army is routed.
A gets 10 (bonus) + 20 (%) = 30 pts
B gets 10 (bonus) + 38 (%) = 48 pts

If both armies are routed the result is 60 to 60.
